Welcome to The Raven Editing. By requesting, scheduling, or rendering payment for our editorial services, you (the "Author" or "Client") agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully to ensure a mutually beneficial working relationship.

1. Scope of Work

The Raven Editing provides professional manuscript critique, developmental editing, line editing, and proofreading services. The specific scope of work, timeline, and cost will be agreed upon via email and clearly stated in your invoice before work begins. Any requests outside the agreed-upon scope may require a renegotiation of fees and deadlines.

2. Copyright & Intellectual Property

You retain 100% of the copyright to your work. The Raven Editing claims no ownership, royalties, or rights to your manuscript, characters, or world. All editing suggestions, feedback, and revisions provided to you become your property to accept, reject, or modify upon final payment.

3. Payment Terms

To secure a spot on our editorial schedule, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total project fee is required. The project is not officially booked until this deposit is received.

• The remaining 50% balance will be invoiced upon completion of the edits.
• Final edited files will be released to the Client only after the final invoice is paid in full.
• Payments must be made via the secure invoicing platform provided by The Raven Editing.

4. Scheduling & Deadlines

We take deadlines very seriously and require the same commitment from our authors. If you fail to deliver your manuscript by the agreed-upon start date, we reserve the right to reschedule your edit based on our availability. Significant delays on your end may result in the forfeiture of your deposit. If The Raven Editing experiences an emergency or delay, you will be notified immediately, and a new timeline or a partial/full refund will be offered.

5. AI & Plagiarism

The Raven Editing does not accept manuscripts that are wholly generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) or heavily plagiarized. If we discover during the editing process that the work violates copyright laws or relies predominantly on AI generation without disclosure, we reserve the right to immediately terminate the contract. In such cases, the deposit will not be refunded.

6. Liability & Guarantees

While we strive for absolute perfection, editing is a subjective human process. We cannot guarantee a 100% error-free manuscript, nor can we guarantee that your book will secure a literary agent, publishing contract, or achieve specific sales numbers. The final decision to accept or reject any suggested edits rests entirely with the Author. The Raven Editing is not legally liable for any issues, damages, or losses resulting from the publication of your work.

7. Termination of Agreement

Either party may terminate the working relationship before the start date. If the Author cancels before editing begins, the 50% deposit is forfeited. If The Raven Editing must cancel prior to starting, a full refund of the deposit will be issued. Once editing has commenced, cancellations by the Author will result in billing for the percentage of work already completed.
